For me, the Wii's claim to uniqueness was the controls, and though some don't like them, I find they do make me feel like I am in the action. Fighting games like MK Armageddon feel visceral and impactful with the Wii controls. I don't want it all the time, but I find it fun. Neither of them are really lacking in a major genre, but the PS2 just has a huge advantage over mostly everything in terms of quantity PS1 and DS are the only others that come close there. The PS2 has hundreds of worthwhile games. The Wii pretty much maxes out between , which is still great, but not PS2 level. The difference was basically the PS2 being supported for about five years longer.
The rest are all won by the PS2. Fair Enough, Honestly nowadays i would perfer Quality over Quantity which the Wii has over the latter. Then again i have a personal vendetta over the PS2 and don't like it as much anymore. I prefer quality over quantity as well. The problem is quality is largely subjective to a certain extent, so if I had to be as objective as possible, the PS2 has more games that will appeal to more people. On the other hand, I guess you could argue by the same metric that the Wii has more mass appeal because even non-gamers will play it.
