I said it to a waiter, he just said something like: really? Then he went to the bar, said something to a colleague, they laughed and nothing else. The mouse was still there when we finished our drinks. I love the BFI! I can spend hours upon hours in there! James L 42 contributions. Free films at the BFI Southbank. A great place for film lovers with good food, excellent shop, clean toilets, comfortable cinemas and, not least, free films in the video screening room just sign in, collect your headphones, sit in your own booth, select a film and enjoy.

Great way to pass the time when waiting for the rush hour to finish so you can go home without the mob. PhilipC Caterham, UK contributions. The BFI was a Sunday afternoon visit comfy seat and clean auditorium, No long adverts intro just the film you go and see. Great atmosphere! Brilliant cinema. First came to this cinema last July as part of a birthday present for my other half - we were so impressed we have been back since and have booked two more films to come and see this year!

Would definately recommend for a trip if there is a film you really want to see. Worth the money and great location. Kas Sheffield, UK 54 contributions. TV" Upon my arrival I was impressed by the whole venue and the atmosphere was extremely welcoming. It was quite busy but the type of busy that would deter you from staying. I found the venue staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. And happy to have a talk with you were time permits..

The venue was very clean and temperature of the facility was just right for me personally. It is a very relaxing place with a pleasant warmth about it and very well decorated. There was no telling how big BFI actually is but from what I saw I could tell there was plenty of other areas that I hadn't ventured into.

All in ll I had a good time and I can't find any fault, and it was different experience to that of your regular cinema visit. BFI Mediatheque - strangely addictive. This has become a bit of a tradition now for my son and I to go and spend an hour or so at the BFI Mediatheque whilst in London for the day. There are loads of films to choose from - some full length features such as Hammer Horror films, or pieces of silent archive footage such as the Olympics.

Whoever thought it would be so much fun watching Alfred Hitchcock's home movies where he's playing with his family in the garden! The Mediatheque has a series of booths about 10, I think. When you go in you let the member of staff know how long you would like 2 hours maximum if it is busy , then you are each given headphones and told which booth to use. If it is busy, you may have to wait or come back later.

Please note, it is not open on Mondays. There is a menu to go through to see which films you would like to see or you can search. This is the only criticism that I have in that it is quite slow to navigate through. There are also quite a few first episodes of programmes. On our latest visit we watched the first ever episode of Playschool from July It had a lunar theme and they made a point of saying 'of course we'll never actually be able to go to the Moon' and 'it would take months and years to get there if we did'.

Being a nosey person, I also find it interesting to see what sort of stuff the other people there are watching. Someone was watching a black and white episode of Coronation Street, someone else was watching Dracula. Holidaypixie London, UK 74 contributions. Less pretention, more imagination. The BFI restaurant is overpriced for what it offers, and the menu is dull and unoriginal. The food is mediocre, and the restaurant itself bland. It's a shame as it could be amazing.
