The Cursed armor quality is a normal, base quality, not a damage reduction quality. It's possible to find Cursed Unlucky armor, though it is not advisable to equip it, as such armor is usually worse than wearing no armor at all!

Think of it as panning for gold. There are four types of armor pieces Helmet, Torso, Gloves and Boots and five different materials Leather, Mail, Chain, Plate and Pristine , for a total of 20 distinct armor items. I've done six survival runs of KG mix mode, with summoners out from 19 - In those six runs, I didn't get a single ultimate piece and on four of the runs I didn't even get any supreme pieces.
I can't get crappy ultimate armor drop, let alone something semi decent. The guys that have full ultimate sets on all their characters are likely hackers. This was before Lab Assault was out. Back then King's Game was the best place to farm gear.
Now Lab Assault is the best place to farm gear.
